These patents are filed with SIPO(State Intellectual Policy Office) and displays devices with multiple notches, as mentioned above it is deeply influenced by the existing ZTE Iceberg. It shows two different smartphones with a variation in design. One looks very similar to what we have seen on the Essential PH-1 device, a small notch on the top that houses only a Camera module and the secondary notch houses a Fingerprint Scanner. Another design shows two similar notches at the top and bottom of the screen. From the front, the device looks like a blend of an iPhone X and an Essential phone.

Using dual notches smartphone manufacturers get the liberty to even put a stereo speaker setup on a device. For now, we don’t know that whether it will make sense or not as the use of secondary notch is not specified. Using a secondary notch as a design element is useless as it results in less screen to body ratio. These are rough illustrations of what ZTE is trying to achieve, however, it will take time to convert these designs into reality. In the smartphone market, a display notch is considered to be a nightmare for a majority of users, a majority of people prefers Full-View display without a notch. Although we are yet to see that how these Dual-notch devices will perform in the market where users are still condemning a device with a single display notch.
