Smartphone users will soon be able to launch YouTube live streaming right from the camera app on their mobile devices. YouTube has partnered with major OEMs like ASUS, LG, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung and will be available across all devices in the near future.
YouTube has recently released YouTube Mobile Live deep link, that allows third-party app developers to start YouTube live stream with just a tap. Direct camera app integration for YouTube live stream will make it easy for smartphone users to host their videos live on YouTube. This will bring in some tough competition for Facebook Live and Twitter Periscope.
Back in 2014, Sony came up with the live stream feature for the Xperia Z3 lineup of smartphones. Samsung was the next to push on the feature by including it in its Galaxy S5 in the year 2015.
YouTube is also working to make live streaming on desktop as simple as visiting the website and clicking “Go live.” You need to visit youtube.com/webcam or click “Go live” from a drop-down in YouTube header bar. The feature is currently available in Chrome only, but will soon be available to more browsers in the days to come.
