Xiaomi joined the league of smartphone manufacturers, that chose to ditch the traditional 3.5 mm jack for USB Type-C port with its latest flagship. In an earlier statement, the company clarified that the removal was to make space for a bigger battery. The launch of Mi 6 with USB Type-C port indicated that the company may soon introduce USB Type-C earphones for its flagship device.
Xiaomi has now officially unveiled its USB Type-C earphones. These earphones have been co-designed by Grammy Award-winner Luca Bignardi, a Spanish musician and sound engineer.
The earphones come with a new polished design which looks elegant. It also features a built-in microphone along with control module for active noise reduction. However, if you cherish your current pair of headphones, the Mi 6 comes with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack, so you can still use your existing headphones. If you want to give these new USB Type-C earphones a try, they are now available through company’s online store for a price of only 299 Yuan (~$43).
