Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Pro devices have started receiving Android 9.0 Pie stable update in India. The update was expected from quite sometime when Xiaomi began beta testing back in January this year. Xiaomi is pushing out this major update with May security patch and weighs approx. 1.6GB in size for both devices.
Redmi 6 Pro gets this update as part of the software version MIUI 10.3.2.0.PDMMIXM while Redmi Note 5 Pro bears the software version MIUI 10.3.1.0.PEIMIXM. This update brings some new features that include face unlock support for App lock, redesigned notification panel, full-screen gestures, all-new user-interface for full-Screen devices, updated system apps along with improved multi-tasking management and a lot of bug fixes.
Also, Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Pro users get system-wide Dark Mode as part of the MIUI 10.3 update. If you’re located in India and own any of these devices, its time for you to enjoy Google’s latest software that works like a charm and comes with several handy features.
The company will be rolling out the OTA update in different phases and might take a while to reach all the users. In case you need to manually check for the update, you can always head to Settings -> About Phone -> System update. When the update is available for download, please make sure that your phone is sufficiently charged and you’re connected to a trusted Wi-Fi connection.
