Xiaomi is all set to announce the Redmi Note 5 later next month. Earlier rumours suggested that the recently launched Redmi 5 Plus in China will be re-branded as the Redmi Note 5 in international markets like India. However, that does not make sense as Redmi 5 Plus has almost same specification as the Redmi Note 4 except for display. Now, a listing by China’s 3C reveal that Redmi Note 5 is happening and will come with upgraded processor.
According to the listings by 3C, there will be two variants of Redmi Note 5. The higher variant will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, whereas the base variant will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630. The former will feature 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage and the latter will come with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. However, both the variants will sport the same 5.99 inch FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
As for cameras are concerned, Redmi Note 5 will be the first in the series to feature dual camera setup. The setup consists of a 16 MP and 5 MP sensors and the front camera will be bumped to 8 MP. They will run on MIUI 9 (probably based on Nougat) out of the box. Last but not least, both the variants will be backed by a 4,100 mAh battery with support for fast charging.
The base variant of Redmi Note 5 is expected to be priced at CNY 1,499 ($238) and the higher variant might retail for CNY 1,799 ($285).
