Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A have started receiving a new stable MIUI 10 update with the December, 2018 security patch. The latest MIUI 10.2.2 is up for both of the budget devices bringing slight UI improvements and bunch of fixes. Read on to know more about the update.
In the case of Redmi 6, the OTA update bears the version 10.2.2.0.OCGMIXM. While the Redmi 6A is also getting the similar update but with a little, unnoticeable change in the version number, which is V10.2.2.0.OCBMIXM. The updates weighs in at around 450MB size for both of the siblings and as it’s obvious the changes are almost similar.
Note that, the updates come on top of the Android Oreo 8.1 itself and we don’t know when the Android Pie gonna hit these devices. Nonethless, the MIUI 10.2.2 brings certain UI element changes for the Redmi 6/6A. Most noticeably, the navigation bar is getting a renovation to more stock like. Also, the recent apps menu now has 3-4 shortcuts over the top.
The update by now should have received all the Redmi 6/6A globally. In case if you haven’t received the update notification, head over to Settings>>Software Update and check for the update manually. You may also install the full OTA firmware which is given below.
