After the over-whelming response that Xiaomi received to their Mi-3 in India, we have another smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer making its way into the Indian market. Yes, the entry level smartphone Redmi 1S has now been launched in India and will be available starting 2nd September and like the previous Xiaomi smartphone that was made available in India, the Redmi 1S will also remain an exclusive to Flipkart.
You’ll have to go through the registration process, registering yourself in advance for the sale that begins on September 2nd. The lucky few will then be able to get their hands on the entry level smartphone. Also, the device comes with a price tag of INR 5,999 which is about $99 rather than the previously announced amount of  INR 6,999.
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S boasts of a 4.7″ 720p display along with an 8 MP rear snapper and a 1.6 MP front camera unit. Under the hood will be a Snapdragon 400 chipset along with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. 8 GB is available as the internal storage memory which can be expanded further via a microSD card slot.
