Xiaomi officially unveils Mi 6X with Snapdragon 660 and 20 MP selfie camera

The Xiaomi Mi 6X has been under the rumor mill for past few months. Most of the specification of the device was already out by leaks as well as official teasers. Even the company itself started sharing the official renders of the phone since last week. However, now everything is all clear as Xiaomi officially unveils the Mi 6X as expected.

According to leaks and rumors, the Mi 6X was supposed to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 or Snapdragon 636. But, it turns out Xiaomi is using a more powerful chip underneath. The Mi 6X features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 coupled with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. As for storage, it will be available in two variants – 64GB and 128GB.

On the front, the device sports a 5.99 inches FHD+ LCD display and a 20MP Sony IMX376 selfie camera. On the back, the phone features a dual camera setup like its predecessor Mi 5X but this time the placement is vertical. The main sensor is a 12MP Sony IMX486 with f/1.75 aperture and 1.25 μm pixel size. Whereas the secondary sensor is the same 20MP one which is on the front.

Other features include face unlock, USB type – C with Quick Charge 3.0 support, no headphone jack and rear fingerprint sensor. The phone runs on MIUI 9.5 based on Android Oreo 8.1 with Project Treble support out of the box. Finally, the whole package is backed by a 3,010 mAh which is slightly lesser than Mi 5X.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X will be available in Cherry Pink, Flame Red, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue, and Black color options. Last but not least, the price starts at CNY 1,599 or INR 17,000 respectively.
