Today, Whatsapp has opened its secrets and shown some reports regarding the user base and other stats. As according to the CEO Jan Koum they handle 54 Billion Messages a day. At the DLD conference currently being held in Germany he detailed that they handle 36 Billion outbound and 18 billion inbound messages handled daily.
He further said at DLD conference in Munich, Germany that “The important thing is focus,” he said, not disappearing photos — a reference to the ephemeral messaging service Snapchat. Evans also computes that WhatsApp has 430 million active monthly users, not bad for a company that has just 50 employees and has never spent one penny on advertising or promotion.
Here’s in detail what Kaum said,”No ads, no games, no gimmicks” Koum said, adding “We just want to focus on messaging. If people want to play games there are plenty of other sites and also a lot of great companies building services around advertising“, “When we started the company we wanted to build something for the long term and sustainable. It’s not hard to sell a company, but if you look at [leading online] companies today like Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Twitter, they didn’t sell. They stuck around and built a great offering for users.”
