Vivo has been on the news radar for a couple of months due to their X20 Plus UD. World’s first smartphone with under display fingerprint sensor. Also, they stole the show at MWC 2018 with their ‘APEX’ concept smartphone last month whose fingerprint sensor nearly cover the bottom half of the screen. And now Vivo announces two new devices named X21 and X21 UD. The latter one comes with the under screen fingerprint sensor which the former lacks.
Both the Vivo X21 and X21 UD share similar specifications except for the under display fingerprint sensor which is only present in X21 UD. These two new devices are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with a massive 6 GB of RAM. The regular X21 will be available in 64 GB as well as 128 GB storage variants. Whereas the X21 UD will be available only in 128 GB variant. But, both supports microSD which further expands the storage capacity to 256 GB.
On the front, they feature a 6.28 inches FHD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 due to the presence of iPhone X-like notch. The notch houses dual 12MP cameras and IR light for the face unlock as well as normal selfies and video calls. There’s also another dual camera setup on the back which consists of 12MP and 5MP sensors. Both the front and rear cameras also come with a support for portrait mode.
The Vivo X21 and X21 UD run on FunTouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Also, Vivo has introduced their virtual assistant- Jovi with these two smartphones. And it is based on AI like any other assistants out there. Last but not least, they are fueled by the same 3,200 mAh battery with support for fast charging.
The Vivo X21 will retail for 2899 Yuan and 3198 Yuan for the 64GB and 128GB variants respectively. On the other hand, the X21 UD will available at a little higher price of 3598 Yuan. What are your thoughts on these new mid-rangers from Vivo? Don’t forget to leave a comment below.
