Last week, Vivo became the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a smartphone with over 91% screen to body ratio. Actually, the company did not announce one device but rather two one being higher and another being cheaper version. And now according to reports, Vivo might bring the newly announced NEX A and NEX S to the Indian market later next month.
The Vivo NEX S is expected to be priced around INR 40,000, whereas the pricing of the NEX A is not known yet. These new Vivo smartphones might be announced in the country in the third week of July if the source to be trusted. In case you do not remember, the last premium phone launched by Vivo in the country was the X21 UD – world’s first commercial smartphone with under display fingerprint sensor.
The Vivo NEX S and the NEX A sport a 6.59 inches FHD+ AMOLED display with an impressive 91.24% screen to body ratio. Also, these phones don’t come with a notch and therefore the front camera is a pop-up module. Under the hood, the NEX S features the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, whereas the NEX A is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 710. The other differentiator between the two is the fingerprint sensor. The NEX S comes with the under display fingerprint sensor like the X21 UD. However, the NEX A features the traditional capacitive fingerprint sensor at the back.
As for optics, both the smartphone features the same camera setup as found on X21. A 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the back, but a new 8MP motorized pop-up camera module for the front. The NEX S comes in both 128GB and 256GB storage variants with 8GB of RAM, but the NEX A comes only in 128GB with 6GB RAM. Both the phones also retain the headphone jack and run on Android 8.1 Oreo. Last but not least, both are backed by a 4,000 mAh battery.
