Since Project Fi’s release back in 2015, the service is currently available on a handful of Google devices. The brief list includes Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6 devices. A recent round of rumors suggest that the impending Moto X4 could be the next and first non-Google device to join the Project Fi later this year. A recent tweet from Project Fi’s official Twitter account revealed that the company is working on a new Fi-compatible mid-tier device along with one of the partners later this year.
In 2016, Motorola under Lenovo’s leadership, skipped the Moto X series and introduced Moto Z as the new line of flagship devices. This year the company is expected to resume the X series with upcoming Moto X4 smartphone. However, now the device will be released as a high-end mid-tier device.
If reports are to be believed, the Moto X4 will be the new Fi-compatible device. As of now, there is no detailed information available about the forthcoming device. However, we do expect some more information and details about Moto Z2 and Project Fi coming our way.
