Late last month, ASUS sent press invites for their Mobile World Congress 2018 event with a tagline #BACKTO5. This clearly means the Taiwanese smartphone maker will be unveiling their new devices under Zenfone 5 moniker which was part of their first generation smartphones back in 2014. And now, an unknown ASUS Zenfone 5 series(2018) phone already leaks with 18:9 display before its unveiling.
The leaked ASUS Zenfone 5 series(2018) smartphone will bear the model number X00PD and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with 3 GB of RAM. Though the processor is less powerful and old, it will sport a 5.7 inches 18:9 display. Further, the body will be made up of metal and the fingerprint sensor will rest on the back like previous Zenfones. The back also will feature the iPhone X like vertical dual camera placement.
Though its 2018, this new Zenfone 5 series(2018) phone will feature a micro USB port rather than type-C. But, it will come with a massive 4,000 mAh battery which will be more than enough for a day. Lastly, it will run on Android 8.0 Oreo which is really nice to see as most of the Android OEMs are still launching smartphones with Android Nougat on board.
Expect this new Zenfone 5 series smartphone including others to be unveiled on 27th February at ASUS’s event for MWC 2018 in Barcelona.
