Twitter 10,000-character Tweets may be allowed in few Months

Twitter is thinking to exceed the characters limit on the Tweets from 140 characters to 10,000 characters.  Company is planing this upgrade in its feathers towards the end of Q1 2016. Long tweets would show in your timeline just as you see them now, but have a call-to-action button that would expand them.

Main reason behind the the same design is that when tweets are taking larger space on your screens than that tweet consumes more time of yours in viewing this you and it’s likely that you’ll view only fewer of them.

Sachin Agarwal, Twitter’s DM product manager, said: “We believe that private messaging is a core part of the twitter experience. Where we see our advantage [over apps such as WhatsApp] is that there’s so much amazing content on Twitter already, that we want to enable people to have private conversations about those things.”

As reported by re/code Increasing the limit has been discussed at Twitter for years, more so in recent months under interim Chief Executive Jack Dorsey as the company looks to grow its user base.
