Sony Xperia Z5 Premium launched the flagship device few weeks ago with 808 pixel per inch packed into the 5.5-inch display. It was revealed that it runs at 4K display but there’s something that Sony didn’t revealed at that time.
As per the details it is revealed that Sony Xperia Z5 Premium can render media content like videos in 4k resolution and other content is shown at 1080p resolution. Sony explained this and said that they enable switching to 108 p to save battery life.
Here’s what sony quoted regarding the issue:
“Xperia Z5 Premium features a 4K display with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels based on SID Standard and enables all video and image content to be enjoyed in 4K resolution. All other content is displayed at 1080P or lower resolution in order to optimise the performance and battery stamina for this device, ensuring you can enjoy the 4K resolution when you need it most.“
It’s quite reasonable awnser as 4k resolution needs lot of processor’s juice and battery too. To reduce it Sony shifts the remaining content to 1080p.
