If you are of some of the few who own a Sony device and don’t like the native Sony interface on your handset, then this is good news for you. Sony has just released AOSP Android 8.0 Oreo for six Xperia smartphones. This release comes under the less popular Open Devices program.
The Open Devices program is aimed at Developers who want to fiddle with the latest software and give people some other choices apart from Sony’s iteration of Android. This particular release will cover AOSP form and the binaries are now out for the below devices.
- Xperia XZ Premium
- Xperia XZs
- Xperia XZ
- Xperia X Performance
- Xperia X
- Xperia X Compact
Now, with these binaries out, we should start seeing some interesting new AOSP-based ROMS in the coming month and for those who dislike Sony’s UX, this is an appreciated change. However, if users want to know whether their Sony devices are on the good list of Android Oreo update, Sony did release some info at IFA 2017. Sony has always been one of the better OEMs in terms of OS updates but unnoticed ones.

- Xperia X Performance
- Xperia XZ
- Xperia X Compact
