Qualcomm has announced a new processor Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip for wearables. It will solve some of the main problems on the wearables like Battery life and thickness.
Snapdragon Wear 2100 is 25% more power efficient and 30% smaller in size than the Snapdragon 400 which is mostly used in Smartwatches. Snapdragon Wear 400 features integrated ultra-low power sensor hub, which will help with greater tracking accuracy over the Snapdragon 400. It also features a new 4G LTE modem with integrated GNSS, along with low power Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor is available to manufacturers now and we should see devices that use it may come later this year. LG is one of the smartwatch makers to commit to developing new smartwatches using the platform. So hopefully we may get a smartwatch which is more sleek later in this year.
