Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 vs Snapdragon 625: How they compete?

Qualcomm is the top SoC (System on a chip) manufacturer in the smartphone industry. At present, they are the only vendor who supplies flagship SoCs for almost all Android OEMs. The firm also develops and manufactures mid-range and entry-level SoC. The mid-range SoCs like Snapdragon 636 vs Snapdragon 625 is much popular in emerging markets like India. Thus, we have drawn a comparison between them to help buyers out.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 636

The Snapdragon 636 was announced back in October 2017 and the first device to feature this SoC was Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. It is Qualcomm’s first Snapdragon 600 series SoC to come with their own Kryo cores instead of ARM’s Cortex-A series cores. It is 40% more powerful than its predecessor i.e., Snapdragon 630.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 625

The Snapdragon 625 is over a year older than the Snapdragon 636. It was announced in February 2016 a few days before the annual MWC (Mobile World Congress). It is the first Snapdragon 600 series SoC to be built on 14nm. This SoC was most popular in 2017 though it was released a year before. Even, there were many phones with Snapdragon 625 in 2018 because of its reliability.
