Indian smartphone market is one of the fastest growing in the world and it looks like Samsung has a pretty strong hold on this market. IDC, a market research firm recently came out with their report on the Indian smartphone market that claims that Samsung was the top vendor of smartphones in the second quarter in India.

Samsung reportedly holds more than a quarter share of the Indian smartphone market at 25.1% followed by Micromax at 12.9%. A huge part of Samsung’s success can be contributed to the J series smartphones, namely the J2, J5 and J7. Similarly, Micromax has the Yu smartphones and also its Canvas line of smartphones to owe their success to.

Overall, the India smartphone market grew by 17% as compared to the last quarter with Chinese vendors to thank here. Manufacturers like Lenovo, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and Gionee grew by up to 28%, thus boosting the Indian smartphone market.
