The Chromium based Samsung Internet is one of the most feature-packed and customizable browser for Android devices. With over 1 billion+ downloads registered on Google Play Store, the browser is conquering more and more users day by day. One of the loved feature of Samsung Internet has been the Video Assistant which Samsung for unknown reason axed in mid-way. Nonetheless, the feature is returning as per the users request at least in its beta version.
It’s the latest Samsung Internet Beta 10.2.0 on which the Video Assistant is being introduced. As per the description it allows some advanced controls for videos on websites. The controls or features which we get while streaming videos are a simple UI just like stock Samsung Video Player, Smart View, PiP support, Download option for supported contents and some other minor but useful controls. Here are other new features of the latest beta update.
o Video Assistant
: (Limitation) Popup play can be restricted by Content Providers.
o Toolbar Customization
o Tab Manager Renewal
The Video Assistant doesn’t allow pop-up play on certain contents restricted by the providers such as YouTube. That means YouTube videos won’t play in PiP unless you’re logged into a premium YouTube account. In fact, we found the UC Browser Turbo PiP to be more capable than the Samsung version. Nonetheless, all the online videos which don’t have provider’s restriction or limitations can play in PiP with ease though.
Apart from the Video Assistant, the new update lets you customize the toolbar according to your likings. You can drag and drop the shortcuts, re-arrange and so on. Also, a minor arrangement is done on Tab Manager and that’s it.
If you have been waiting for the Video Assistant then its time to try it out. Update to the latest Samsung Internet beta and have fun. If you’re a betaphobic, then you’d have to wait a little more till the feature debuts in stable version.
