Samsung Galaxy Trademark Filing: Suggests Android-powered digital camera
The Korean company has filed for a trademark with the href=”http://www.uspto.gov/” rel=”homepage” target=”_blank” title=”United States Patent and Trademark Office”>USPTO for a “ href=”http://www.samsung.com/” rel=”homepage” target=”_blank” title=”Samsung”>Samsung Galaxy Camera.” The name is described as being associated with — you guessed it — “cameras and camcorders.” There’s really only one thing to take away from that: Samsung is either considering or already working on an href=”http://code.google.com/android/” rel=”homepage” target=”_blank” title=”Android”>Android-powered camera, at least tangentially related to its current smartphone lineup. Aside from the name filing, there’s no technical information to go on.
The company has been known to put out a variety of gadgets that range from smartphones, to cameras, to displays and even kitchen appliances, so for them to launch a new camera would not be a stretch of the imagination. However the Galaxy moniker has so far been reserved for the company’s series of Android smartphones and tablets, which has us wondering if they are going down href=”http://www.polaroid.com/” rel=”homepage” target=”_blank” title=”Polaroid Corporation”>Polaroid’s path with a “smart camera”, or will they instead be launching a phone with an über camera that could match the likes of the Nokia N8?
