After certain ambiguities regarding whether the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge will receive Android Oreo anytime soon or not. It seems, the Korean Giant – Samsung has finally started issuing the major update to the devices at least in the U.K., if not broadly now. The Galaxy S7 duos Android Oreo 8.0 based Samsung Experience 9.0 weighs in at 1251 MB in size.
The update comes with firmware version G930FXXU2ERD5 on Galaxy S7 and G935FXXU2ERD5 on Galaxy S7 Edge. Except the feature of Edge Screen and its associated services on the Edge variant, both the firmware will have almost similar structure and offerings.
It’s good to know that, a carrier-locked variant also is receiving along with the unlocked variants. Vodafone branded Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are receiving the same in Ireland. The OTA update for them is little bit bulky than for the unlocked variants with around 1.4 GB in size.
With the Oreo, Samsung has also updated the security patch level of the devices to 1st April. Hence, Galaxy S7 duo users in U.K. have another reason to immediately update their device to the latest available software.
If you come under the aforementioned categories of Galaxy S7 models users, the time has arrived to trigger the update section. For that, sail over to Settings>>Software Update section to manually search for the update.
