Soon after Samsung rolled out the July security update to its latest flagships, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 10 in the US, the update is now being pushed to Galaxy Note 9. It is to note that this particular update is initially available for users in Germany and comes with firmware version N960FXXS6ETG1. The company will be rolling out the update to other markets pretty soon.
July security update addresses several Android OS and Galaxy series specific vulnerabilities, however, it does not bring any new features or improvements. Reports suggest that this update fixes some major bugs affecting a bunch of Android devices (including Galaxy devices) which include:
This update brings a fix to the issue wherein the smartphone crashes when you try applying a certain kind of wallpaper. It also rectifies a bug that may result in memory leak exposing important data and an exploit that allowed unauthorized write access to SD card. Apart from fixing these extensive issues, the July update also addresses some minor bugs to enhance the security of your device.
If you’re not located in Germany, you may need to wait for a few days or weeks before this update is officially available for you. Since it addresses some major security issues, you should download and install the update as soon as you get notified.
