Starting with the Galaxy J3 (2017), Samsung has stepped into the next phase of its Android Oreo roll-out venture. The budget device is receiving the much awaited Android Oreo 8.0 update in Russia and the U.A.E. Hence, it’s a happy news for J-Series owners as the Korean-Giant has finally shifted the focus to budget devices.
The OTA update hitting J3 units in the UAE bears software version J330FXWU3BRG3. While in Russia it’s J330FXXU3BRH1. However, both the builds bring the, of course, Samsung Experience 9.0 based on Android Oreo 8.0 along with the June 2018 security patch. Yeah, it took a long time for the update to reach the device, given that the brand new Android Pie is here with all its glory. Well, that’s the case with Samsung J-Series devices.
As the least powerful among the prominent J-Series has received the update, its larger siblings – the 2017 iteration of Galaxy J5 (Pro) and J7 (Pro) should receive it soon rather than later. Meanwhile, it seems Samsung is in a bid to seed the Oreo update as much as possible to its budget devices including certain 2016 J-Series.
Well, the Galaxy J3 (2017) owners can be proud as it’s the first budget device in the Samsung warehouse to receive the Oreo update. However, whether it marks the final major update for the device is yet another side of the equation. Despite, let us be optimistic that the device will be destined to get one more major update.
