A week or so ago, Samsung has started pushing the OneUI update based on Android Pie for the Galaxy A8+ in Russia. Now, the major update is being extended to the Galaxy A8+ users of India over-the-air. The update, indeed, brings Samsung’s revamped OneUI skin on top of the Android Pie.
With over 1.22GB in size, the OTA brings all the goodies of OneUI for the nearly one and half-year-old Samsung mid-ranger. Perhaps, it’s the second major update for the device, with the Android Oreo being the previous major upgrade. It’s good to see Samsung gearing up the OneUI roll-out given that the next Android, Android Q is around the corner.
Samsung has bundled the last month’s security patch as a bummer for some. Nonetheless, the February security patch level is a major bump as the device previously had patch level ageing all the way back to November 2018.
Apart from the OneUI features such as native Night Mode, Navigation gestures and so on, the Galaxy A8+ is also getting Wi-Fi Share option with the OneUI. The Wi-Fi share option, in case, if you don’t know, allows both Wi-Fi and Mobile Hotspot to be enabled simultaneously. Literally, allowing your Wi-Fi connection to be shared via Wi-Fi Hotspot. Note that, Wi-F sharing isn’t possible on most of the devices out there natively.
In case if you’re a Galaxy A8+ user in India, do check for the update in Software Update section. For that head over to Settings>> Software Update.
