Samsung was really working hard to get out the 8 GB LPDDR4 mobile DRAM chip. And the most interesting fact is that is the first LPDDR4 mobile DRAM and also along side it is the first among the mobile’s DRAM to fit such a high density in a single die. And about 4 of them can be successfully be combined for about 4 GB of Memory.
Also fabricated in the 20 nm manufacturing process, the LPDDR4 chis have been reported to be about 50% more faster than the LPDDR3 memory units in the markets, and also consuming 40% less power. So it makes them a great step ahead, and we can expect a more speed swap int he coming devices to feature this memory.
The data transfer speeds on the new 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM can have 3,200Mbps per pin which twice as the LPDDR3 RAM in the market. And Samsung said that these will be featured in the UHD Smartphones, Tablets, and also ultra thin Notebooks, which something about the screen resolution jump in the coming year. And so it might also be featured in the Galaxy S5 as it would be definitely one of those UHD Smartphones.
Also to note that to utilize this powerful memory S5 would require a 64 bit-processor, so we can get about much technologies coming up in the Samsung Galaxy S5.
