Samsung Chief found guilty in graft probe

The graft scandal investigation, that began way back last February. Finally, ended with a verdict offering 5 years of imprisonment for the Samsung Vice-President Jae Yong Lee. He was found guilty of perjury, embezzlement, and bribery across South Korea by a three-judge panel of Seoul Central District Court.

Earlier this year, J.Y Lee was grilled for a long 15 hours by investigation team deemed to the above case. Which also involved former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, who allegedly accepted bribery from Lee. The bribe amount accounts to be a whooping 43.3 billion won (about $38 million) as registered by the prosecutors.

The prosecution team were successful in presenting enough evidence to prove that Lee along other Samsung officials bribed the government for meeting their personal and official needs.

The 49 year-old Lee is a direct successor to the Samsung Empire. Although, the scandal ought to leave a bad impression on Lee. It won’t neccessarily impact his way to become the next successor of the prestigous Samsung empire.

In spite all of this, Jae Yong has decided to go for an appeal, as he used to do before. So, it seems the verdict won’t be final as we thought, though.
