Qualcomm is already in works to build the Snapdragon 845 for the upcoming flagships that are yet to be announced in 2018. Precisely, the new Snapdragon 845 is expected to rollout with the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ series in the first quarter of 2017. Going further in the future, we expect Snapdragon 855 as revealed by well-known tipster Roland Quandt.
Qualcomm seems to be focusing on a big performance boost as they are rumored to bring the 7nm process chipset. Qualcomm is already working on futuristic 5G technologies and we expect Snapdragon 855 to be 5G ready upto some extent.
As a proof, Quandt has referred to Linked profile of a software engineer named George Fang. He has listed that he’s working on Linux kernel driver development and is currently assigned to work the latest Snapdragon chipsets (sdm845 and sdm 855).
Digging deep into the short names, then sdm845 stands for the Snapdragon 845 which is listed to arrive by next year with Galaxy S9. Then, obviously, sdm855 is the Snapdragon 855 which we expect to reveal by the year 2019. Further, the Snapdragon 845 is codenamed as Napali v2.0 and similarly Snapdragon 855 is described as Hana v1.0 as per the sources.
Another, big reveal is that the Samsung is not manufacturing the Snapdragon 855 as like of the Snapdragon 835. it will be crafted by taiwan based TSMC and may come with the flagship in 2019.
Taking to another reference, it is reported that Qualcomm 855 is going to be 30 to 40 percent better performance. It will power improved AI capabilities and enhanced power efficiency.
The recent gig of the Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are expected to get official support in SNapdragon 855.
Overall, there’s a lot more to come as a full year is left for the Snapdragon 855. The above specs and features are just rumors and just take it as a drop out of ocean for now.
