Redmi rolls out Android 11 update to Note 9 Pro 5G

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G was packed in 2020 with Android 10 based MIUI 12 skin at the top. In mid-Feb of this year, the smartphone received a stable Android 11 update globally.

Now, the Chinese units of Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G are grabbing the Android 11 goodies. Similar to the global stable build, the update does not bring MIUI 12.5, though it set forth new features sticking to MIUI 12.

The fresh package for Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G can be identified by firmware version V12.0.2.0.RJSCNXM. The update brings the Android 11 features to the device such as revamped UI, enhanced dark theme mode, in-build screen recorder, smart media control, lock screen conversations, one-time permissions, chat bubbles, and other improvements or customizations.

However, the software is currently under the stable beta phase, which means it will initially roll out to selective units. After assuring that there are no critical bugs, the company will push a border rollout. Also, the new MIUI is expected to roll out after mid-year.

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G Specifications

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G was announced last year in November featuring a 6.67-inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It offers 128GB/6GB RAM, 128GB/8GB RAM, and 256GB/8GB RAM storage variants which are expandable via a microSD card slot. The phone powers Android 10, MIUI 12 out of the box paired with Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chipset. Moving to the camera, it houses quad primary 108 MP wide + 8 MP ultrawide + 2 MP macro + 2 MP depth sensors along with a single 16 MP secondary lens for selfies.
