OnePlus 6 is a newborn device and thus lacked many software features or tweaks on-board that are currently present on its matured predecessors. So OnePlus is rolling out a new(first) OTA update that plausibly takes the device up to the level of OnePlus 5/5T, in terms of software offerings. The latest OxygenOS 5.1.6 update is being rolled out globally bringing slew of new features and improvements to the speedy OnePlus 6.
Weighing in at around 223MB in size, the OxygenOS 5.1.6 for the global OnePlus 6 models is ,in deed, feature packed. Once the update is installed on your device, you’ll be able to take good portrait mode photos using front camera. Also, a new improved DND mode with schedule option, battery percent in the status bar, and the ability to automatically answer incoming calls when connecting a Bluetooth device are some other features the device is totting.
Additionally, as a boon to Indian OnePlus 6 users Idea VoLTE support is getting added on to the device. Hence, users on Idea 4G network will be able to make rich HD calls without slipping to 2G network. Consequently, they can also avail the 10GB free promotional data that Idea is providing to initial VoLTE users. But, these are only possible after the update starts hitting the Indian sub-continent.
As earlier mentioned, the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update is taking a round gradually, only in few regions such as Germany as of now. In case if you can’t wait for the update to hit your region, we’re dropping the link for Full OTA package zip below which can be flashed via the stock System Updater menu (Settings –> Local Upgrade) or through Stock Recovery/TWRP.
