A few days back OnePlus rolled out the December 2022 security patch and a few fixes for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series. Further, OnePlus announced via the OnePlus community that the OxygenOS 12 MP3 update would be the last update for OnePlus 7 and 7T series. The update comes with version number H.32 for OnePlus 7 series and F.18 for OnePlus 7T series. OnePlus had promised two major Android updates for the smartphones.

To recall, the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro were unveiled in Q2 2019. It came with OxygenOS 9 on top of Android 9 out of the box. The users were lucky to receive three significant updates, including Android 10, Android 11 and Android 12. In contrast, the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro came in Q3 of 2019 with OxygenOS 10 on top of Android 10 out of the box. OnePlus 7T users only got two significant updates, i.e. Android 11 and Android 12.
The announcement came as an edit in the updated news post, which disappointed many users. Many were expecting a separate official statement announcing the End of Life for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series. Apart from December 2022 security patch, the update also improves the stability of mobile connections. The new update policy of OnePlus is that flagships launching in 2023 or later would receive up to four major Android updates and five years of security updates. It is a step up from the existing policy of two significant Android updates and three years of security updates.
