Though OnePlus would not provide Nougat update to the OnePlus 2, they did not leave it to rot as the device is receiving a new update with October Security patch. The update brings the Oxygen OS version to 3.6.1 and also fixes the WPA2 vulnerability issue.
It’s good that the company care for their customers. As the WPA2 exploit enables hackers to gain usernames and passwords of any network based on LAN or WiFi, thus leading to data leakage. This vulnerability can be patched by KRACK fix which is included in this new update. The update also brings some general bug fixes and improvements. If the OTA did not hit your device, go to Settings and check for updates.
To recall, this patch is already there in the Android 8.0 Oreo Beta for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. Sadly, this year’s flagship OnePlus 5 still has the September Security patch and October is almost over. But, it will receive the October Security patch sooner or later.
Even though OnePlus 2 is not running on Android Nougat, at least it is now updated to October Security patch. What are your thoughts on OnePlus ditching the Nougat update for the OnePlus 2 ? Head over to the comment section to express your views.
