Here’s comes the competition for Sony’s Cyber-shot QX10 as Olympus announced Olympus Air, a wireless lens camera for your smartphone. The Olympus Air A01 is a 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor and mount that can take any of the numerous lenses released for the format so far.
The Olympus Air is packed with a 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor and can be used with any Micro Four Third lens. The Air can capture fast moving subjects with its 1/16000 ultra-high-speed shutter, allows for continuous shooting of up to 10 frames per second, and there is a three times digital zoom thrown in for extra flexibility.
There is no official confirmation yet, the Olympus Air is expected to be available in Japan next month. It is priced for ¥33,800 (about $289). A bundle with Olympus’ regular 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens will run ¥49,800 ($425).
