Nokia X, X+ and XL Announced: Runs On AOSP Release Of 4.1.2 Android

Finally rumours came to an end as Nokia announced its two new Android powered devices. The budget, Nokia X $122 Android smartphone reskinned with a Windows Phone-style UI and priced to sell in the sort of developing markets for $122.

Nokia X features little low end specs but we have to take it on hands to correctly evaluate the performance of the device. It seems that Nokia is not intergerating the Nokia X with the Google services as they have layered many Microsoft stuff around the device to make it connected to the Microsoft services. Also Stephen Elop said,“The Nokia X takes people to Microsoft’s cloud, not to Google’s cloud.” Well, Nokia X packs a dualcore 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3G radio (no 4G), 512MB of memory, 4GB of storage, a microSD slot (for up to 32GB cards), dual SIM, and a 3-megapixel fixed-focus camera. WiFi and GPS are included too, plus a removable 1,500 mAh battery, and the whole thing measures 115.5 x 63 x 10.4 mm and 128.66g, and has a 4-inch 800 x 480 capacitive LCD IPS touchscreen.

While Nokia X+ packs 768MB RAM instead of 512 MB in Nokia X.

Nokia XL features a larger screen of 5Inch with RAM of 768MB with dual SIM support.

“The Nokia X software platform is built upon AOSP, Android Open Source Project,” said Nokia’s marketing director for its mobile phones division, Neil Broadley. “What we’ve done is we’ve built the Nokia X software platform on standard Android open source, and then on top of that we’ve built the Nokia user experience layer — so the Nokia UI — so Fast Lane and the homescreen.”

“The homescreen is tile-based, so it’s similar to a [Windows Phone-based] Lumia. It incorporates some elements of that — some limited live information into the tiles. We’ve also put in Nokia and Microsoft services.”

“The sub-$100 price range is a massive opportunity for us,” said Nokia’s outgoing CEO Stephen Elop, describing the range as a “different but complementary opportunity to introduce a new family that strengthens our affordable [devices] family”.

As according to the company it will be released in different colors as listed: green, black, white, yellow, cyan, and red. Nokia X is priced lower then Nokia’s Lumia range for $122 as Steve Elop was keen to point out that the X range is designed to be more affordable than the Lumia range, both now and in the the future. Nokia X+ is coming in early Q2, for €99/$136. Exact Date for availability of the Nokia X is not published yet but company said soon it will be “broadly available globally”, starting in developing markets, and they’ll cost $125 for the X, $135 for the X+, and $150 for the XL.

So it seems that our published news regarding the Nokia X launch in march under Asha Series in India is true. Also many rumours came to an end but few reports leaked still have to get their answers. So it seems that Nokia is going to change itself, Android Market and other Manufacturers. Overall there will be now more options for Android lovers to choose from and overall it will increase the profitability of Android Ecosystem.
