Today, HMD Global announced Nokia 8 — Nokia’s first flagship Android device in a launch event held in India. Nokia 8 comes with top-tier specifications and will be competing with other flagship devices like OnePlus 5, Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, HTC U11 and more. The smartphone gets a price tag of Rs. 36,999 and it will be available on Amazon India and offline retail stores starting October 14.
Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch QHD IPS display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The handset is powered by an octa-core (4 Kryo cores clocked @ 2.5GHz and 4 Kryo cores clocked @ 1.8GHz) Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Nokia 8 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable via a microSD card (up to 256GB).
The flagship device boasts a dual-camera setup at the rear with Carl Zeiss optics. The smartphone has (13MP + 13MP) sensors, an RGB sensor that offers optical image stabilization (OIS), and a monochrome sensor. Both dual-cameras feature phase detection autofocus (PDAF), dual-tone LED flash, 76.9-degree wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, and an IR range finder.
Nokia 8 comes with a 13-megapixel sensor at the front with features like PDAF, 1.12-micron pixels, f/2.0 aperture, and 78.4-degree wide-angle lens.
Its main highlight is the new ‘Bothies’ feature, which is lets you capture photos and videos from both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Among other specifications, Nokia 8 comes with a 3,090 mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0. It has an IP54 splash-proof rating and also includes a 3.5mm ADJ headphone jack (3-mics) and USB 3.1 Type-C. Nokia 8 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box,and could be the first non-Google device to be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.
The smartphone will be available in four color options – Polished Copper, Polished Blue, Tempered Blue and Steel.
