The new Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds recently passed the Bluetooth SIG certification. According to Amazon, the buds features a new design with dynamic audio and active noise cancellation (ANC) and a 20 percent smaller design than its predecessor. The TWS earbuds give a long-lasting battery along with the support of Amazon Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant. Let’s talk about what’s new the latest Gen earbuds have to offer us.
The Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) are introduced with a new design that is light and IPX4 rated for sweat-resistant with a secure, customizable fit and 20% smaller than the original ones. Each earbud features three microphones. Also, Amazon is giving customers the option to choose between different types of cases.
The TWS buds offer narrower nozzles for comfortability and better fitting and is designed in a way to reduce in-ear pressure. The ear end of the buds provides a balanced sound with an extended dynamic range.
Amazon packed the buds with a sealed in-ear design and ANC limit background noise that delivers crystal clear crisp balanced sound. The company says that “ANC uses the inner and outer microphones to intelligently estimate sound pressure in the eardrum to generate the inverse of that signal and cancel out unwanted noise”.
Moreover, the earbuds have a “Passthrough Mode” to listen to the ambient sound. The outside voice that the user wants to hear can be adjusted in the Alexa app, which supports Android 6.0 and iOS 12 or higher. The TWS earbuds support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
The Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) gives hands-free entertainment access to users. This means by just asking Alexa, the smart device will stream music, play podcasts, and read Audible audiobooks to you. Furthermore, you can use voice to make calls, set reminders, add items to your shopping list, or even start a meditation session.
The earphones are designed to protect the user’s privacy. Amazon said that it is not in the business of selling your personal information to others. Echo Buds are built with multiple layers of privacy controls, including the ability to mute the mics with the Alexa app.
As mentioned earlier, the TWS earbuds give a long-lasting battery along with the support of Amazon Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant. Amazon claims that the Buds offer up to 5 hours of music playback on a single charge with ANC and Hands-Free Alexa on, and up to 6.5 hours of music playback with ANC and Hands-Free Alexa off.
The Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) are meant to give up to 15 hours of playtime including the battery of the charging case and ANC on, and about 19.5 hours when ANC is off. The earbuds can offer around 2 hours of music streaming with a 15-minute charge.
