Netflix On Its Way To Enter India By 2016

Netflix, on-demand Internet streaming media service that is already hit in many parts of the world like North America, Australia, New Zealand, South America and parts of Europe. Now, it is going to enter India by 2016.

US-based Netflix, has firmed up plans to enter India by 2016. This has sent domestic DTH players into a tizzy with some of the major ones chalking out strategies to diversify beyond television. The Times Of India is citing that it will disrupt the present DTH services by saying:

It’s similar to Starbucks entering India. Everybody knew about it but cafe brands were late to react and Starbucks came and stole the show. We don’t want to be caught on the wrong foot.

The report quoted a Netflix spokesperson, “We have said we plan to be nearly global by the end of 2016. We have nothing else to share at this point.”

The company has 62 million subscribers worldwide and has a huge opportunity to capitalize on in India. Currently, it is not official but we at present scenario we can imagine as 4G services are already rolling out in the country. Main telecom operators in India, Airtel and Reliance Jio are providing the 4G services, so, we can expect the launch.
