Motorola released its flagship smart phone the Moto Z, last summer. The phone received good reviews and was appreciated especially for its modular support. Moto Z came with the then latest version of Android Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box and it was updated to Android Nougat 7.0 a few months after its official release.
Now, Motorola is sending out Android Nougat 7.1.1 to the Moto Z in Indonesia and Hong Kong. Moto Z users in these locations are receiving an OTA update for Nougat 7.1.1 and you can download and install it immediately. Just make sure to backup your data and keep your charge level above 50% as the update might take some time to install.
The latest update comes with all the features of Nougat 7.1.1 like app icon long press shortcuts, new keyboard emojis, doze enhancements and a polished user interface. Along with these general features, the update also adds the Google Duo video chat app to the Moto Z. Motorola is also rolling out the July security patch along with this update.
The Moto Z Droid, the Verizon version of the phone is still in Android Nougat 7.0. It could receive the latest update soon or Motorola might even directly update it to Android O. If you have not yet received the notification for the update, then check for it in system updates under the About phone section in your Settings app.
