Finally, Moto X Play, Motorola’s mid-range device from 2015 is receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. Lenovo-owned Motorola, earlier announced that the device will be updated to Android 7.0. However, the update didn’t arrive in time but now it is here. Therefore, at this time, Motorola skipped Android 7.0 update and is now directly rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for its Moto X Play series.
Android 7.1.1 Nougat update brings a host of features which include Split-screen mode, Quick settings, improved Doze mode, Revamped notifications, Direct reply and much more. This update also brings May 1, 2017 security patch alongside usual bug fixes and stability improvements. Furthermore, the update will also install Google’s video calling app, ‘Duo’ on your device.
The update is being rolled over-the-air (OTA) and might take time to reach all Moto X Play users. If you do not see the update arriving, you could wait for few days or head over to Settings> About phone> System updates > Yes, I’m in > Install now.
This is to note that you cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update. Before you start downloading the update, we recommend that your phone is charged up to 50 percent. Also make sure that you are connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
