Motorola is pushing out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to the Moto X Play in Brazil. A Twitter user posted an image on his account that shows the update is live for Brazil as of now. But surrounding countries should also start seeing it soon. It is kind of late for the Moto X Play to get Nougat. Although, Motorola has skipped 7.0 altogether and included v7.1.1 in the OTA to make up for late timing.
Also, this update will be the last new OS pushed by the company as Motorola has confirmed no Oreo for the Moto X Play. The Moto X Play came out in 2015 and got the Marshmallow update last year. The OTA will appear as version 26.31.1.en.01 and bumps v 6.0.1 to 7.1.1.
As a perk, Moto X Play users will also get the latest security patch which we presume is the September 2017 patch. And it should likely harbour the Blueborne bug fix that was found recently to infect billions of Bluetooth devices.
As a positive note, the Moto X Play may also get Android 7.1.2 as it was spotted on GFXBench with the new update. But don’t consider it a done deal as sometimes updates don’t pan out as we expect them to.
