MIUI is one of the oldest and most used Android skin which comes pre-installed on Xiaomi devices. Though it has many features, it does miss some of the common features that are present on other Android skins. Such a feature is the ability to switch data SIM from notification toggle which has now been finally added in MIUI China beta.
Xiaomi’s MIUI comes in different versions such as closed beta, public beta, and stable. New features first get introduced in the closed beta channel and then get passed on to the stable channel. But it is not necessary the new feature added in the beta channel will always make it to the stable channel.
Normally in MIUI, if a user wants to change their data SIM, they have to do it from settings which is frustrating. Thus, the ability to switch data SIM from notification toggles will be helpful and used by many users. Other than this, the new beta also brings some China-specific Mi Pay features and an option to select app layouts (4 x 6 / 5 x 6) in the launcher. Do note that these features are only available in MIUI China beta builds as of now. We are not sure when Xiaomi will add them to the global builds.
As Xiaomi is dropping MIUI beta channel from July 1st, these features might directly debut in global stable builds if the initial testing goes right in China.
