After the inception of MediaTek 1000 SoC with integrated 5G modem, the MediaTek has unveiled a new Dimensity 800 SoC with 5G support. At the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2020, MediaTek unleashed a mid-range SoC solution with support for dual-mode 5G capabilities.

MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC Features
The newly launched Dimensity 800 hosts a 7nm octa-core processor with 4X Cortex A76 cores at 2.0GHz and 4x Cortex A55 cores at 2.0GHz. To boost the gaming performance, MediaTek Dimensity equips Mali-G57MP4 GPU coupled with HyperEngine gaming technology.
The AI performance is handled by its APU 3.0 with 2.4 TOPS. It supports a full HD+ resolution display having 90Hz refresh rates and up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM. The new SoC hosts a flagship-grade ISP with support for up to four cameras. Precisely, Dimensity 800 SoC can host up to 64-megapixel primary camera or 32-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual cameras. It supports, autoexposure, noise reduction, facial recognition, AI-autofocus, and HDR.
It offers 2CC carrier aggregation for improved network coverage. There’s support for 2G/3G/4G multi-mode and Dynamic-Spectrum Sharing (DSS). The inbuilt 5G modem supports download speeds up to 3.5Gbps and upload of 1.25Gbps.
It will compete against the Snapdragon 765 chipset and expected to debut at the end of the first half of this year. It will be a bit cheaper than its competitors.
