It seems LG is nearing the launch of their 2018 lineup of smartwatches. Recently, two new different versions of LG smartwatches were spotted on FCC listings. And now, the South Korean tech giant has been granted to use ‘Libre’ branding to use on their smartwatches. Which means one of the smartwatches that will be launching later this year might bear the ‘Libre’ branding.
The word ‘Libre’ means freedom in Spanish which means the sport variant of the LG watch might bear this moniker from now onwards. Thus, the forthcoming LG Watch Sport might get rebranded as LG Watch Libre. Also, when coming to bizarre branding, LG is not new. We’ve got the awkwardly named V30S ThinQ, V35 ThinQ, and G7 ThinQ. However, make sure to take it as a pinch of salt as it’s only an assumption.
Further, the release date, as well as specifications, are still not known. But, one thing is for sure that it will run on Wear OS which is the now the new identity of Android Wear. With a number of designer brands now launching WearOS powered smartwatches at a hefty price tag, it would be good to see few from tech companies.
