According to recently revealed IDC’s new report, Apple now contributes 50.4% of total tablets in the world in Q3 of 2012. Last year in the same quarter Apple iPad penetration was at 59.7% and 65.5 % in the last quarter. Now guess which firm picked up big piece from chart? of course Samsung.
Tom Mainelli, research director of tablets at IDC said: “We believe a sizeable percentage of consumers interested in buying an Apple tablet sat out the third quarter in anticipation of an announcement about the new iPad mini. Now that the new mini, and a fourth-generation full-sized iPad, are both shipping we expect Apple to have a very good quarter.”
Samsung gained a lot from decline in share of Apple’s iPads. In Q3 according to IDC Samsung Tablet market share market share is up to 18.4 percent t from 6.5 per cent last year with an impressive 325 per cent increase in shipments to 5.1m.
Apple is followed by Samsung, Amazon, Asus and Lenovo, all of whom make Android tablets. Asus particularly was backed by strong shipments of its Google-branded Nexus 7 device.
Now wyes on Q4 results as it will include Market Sales of newly launched Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Nexus 7 all variants, Nexus 10 and of course Apple’s Pads.
