After many leaks, finally Huawei unveils their new phablet, Ascend Mate 2 4G in CES in Las Vegas. Just like first generation Ascend Mate phablet, Ascend Mate 2 4G has 6.1 inch 720p display but comes with more powerful processor and 4G connectivity.
Dimensions of Ascend Mate 2 are 161*84.9*9.5 mm and weighs 202 gram. On the front it has 6.1 inch IPS+LCD capacitive display of resolution 720*1280 pixels which makes pixel density of 241 ppi. But we were hoping for 1080p display. Anyways, it runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS with Emotion UI 2.0 on the top out of the box. There is 16 GB internal memory, 2 GB RAM and microSD card support up to 64 GB. Connectivity options include HSDPA, HSUPA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, A-GPS, microUSB v2.0 etc.
For photography and video recording, Ascend Mate 2 has 13 MP rear autofocus camera with LED flash and 5 MP front facing camera. The rear camera of Ascend Mate 2 is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30 fps. Ascend Mate 2 is powered by quad-core Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz along with Adreno 306 GPU. The phablet has non user removable Li-ion 4050 mAh battery. Good thing about such massive battery in Ascend Mate 2 is that you can use this phablet as portable charger to charge other phones too.
“With Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G, we are bringing the benefits and convenience of superfast connectivity to people everywhere. Ascend Mate 2 4G is power-packed for the mobile generation who want non-stop entertainment on the go, such as the ability to snap and download photo albums in seconds or use their smartphone as their mobile office,” said Colin Giles, Executive Vice President, Huawei Consumer Business Group while unveling the phablet.
