Huawei Mate X2 foldable smartphone now official with dual displays, Leica cameras and Kirin 9000 SoC

Huawei finally unveiled its second-generation foldable smartphone – Mate X2 in China. The smartphone features dual displays, Kirin 9000 SoC, a fully foldable design and Leica-branded cameras. The beautifully designed smartphone houses a full-view display on the outer side while an 8-inch display is present within the fold. It will compete against the Samsung galaxy Fold 2, Motorola Razr 2 and other foldable devices.

Huawei Mate X2

The foldable smartphone comes with dual displays – a 6.45-inch OLED display sporting a resolution of 2700 x 1160 pixels and 456ppi and a 90Hz refresh rate. Another 8-inch foldable display resides on the inner side with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Huawei Mate X2 is powered by Kirin 9000 processor and carries 8GB RAM + 256/512GB internal storage. Huawei Mate X2 features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, IR sensor and a USB 3.1 Type-C Port.

In the camera department, the device houses a quad-rear camera featuring a 50MP primary camera fitted with OIS. However, other sensors include a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP periscope camera. A 16MP selfie camera sits on the front side for super selfies.

The device runs EMUI 11 and supports up to 200 apps to run on the foldable device. It offers a 4500 mAh battery with 55W fast charging support.

Huawei Mate X2 Pricing

Huawei mate X2 carries a hefty price tag of $2785 for a 256GB storage variant and $2940 for a 512GB storage. It will start retailing from February 25 in China and will come bundled with a SuperCharge charger, a Type-C data cable, Type-C earphones and a protective case.

Some other premium accessories were made available starting from $46.
