Google has made some tough statements in the Compatibility Definition Document of Nougat. As picked up by the Android Police, Google has stated that OEMs must embed the Nougat’s Notifications and Direct Reply in the devices otherwise they will not get access to the Play services.
Here are the raw statements from the Google’s documentation:
Handheld device implementations MUST support the behaviors of updating, removing, replying to, and bundling notifications as described in this section.
Now, OEMs need to embed these feature to continuously keep getting access to Play Store services for their devices.
Device manufacturers sometimes don’t embed the new features in their devices. But from looking at the Google’s take on Android Nougat, it seems soon it will change.
What you think step like this is needed or not?
