Google rolls out June 2018 security patch for Pixel and Nexus Devices

The monthly security maintenance release (SMR) policy has, perhaps, played an impeccable role in improving the security of Android eco-system. Google has been updating its security bulletin detailing the latest patches whenever a new month fall upon us. As we’ve stepped into June 2018, it’s the time for Google to bring the patches for this month to the table. Without any awry, the tech-giant has, as usual, detailed the new SMR on its bulletin.

As it’s obvious, Google has detailed both of the SMR’s dated, 1st June 2018 and 5th June 2018. There’s no much difference between them except the fact, the latter contains additional security fixes from the silicon vendors for the month of June. Basically, these security patches contain fixes for the security vulnerabilities affecting Android devices. The latest security patch levels dated as of 2018-06-05 or later address all of these issues collectively referred as CVE’s.

Among the CVE’s(Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) that have been fixed with the latest release. Google has been triumphant in squashing one of the severe vulnerability affecting Media Framework. According ti Google, the critical security vulnerability found in Media framework plausibly enabled a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context privileged process. Well, that even sounds scary!

Of course, the June 2018 SMR bundles fixes for other known high, medium and low level vulnerabilities present on Android System. For complete details regarding the June security patch, sail towards Android Security Bulletin by clicking the source link.
