Google Play Store dark mode now getting a wider roll-out

System-wide Dark Mode is a notable feature of the latest Android 10. Google has been updating all of the apps in its arsenal to support the Dark Mode. As such, the Google Play Store has been the last major app to get the dark mode on certain Android 10 running devices. But it now changes as more devices without Android 10 has now started to see dark mode on Google Play Store.

The latest Google Play Store 16.9.10 update is in the wild since couple of days. Interestingly, it’s just now the dark mode getting pushed on devices having the latest build. So, necessarily a server side change.

Note that, for the Dark Mode to trigger on non-Android 10 devices, the software whichever version of the Android is, should have a system-wide Dark/Night Mode. For instance, we’re able to get the Dark Mode on Galaxy Note 8 running OneUI 1.0 based on Android Pie when the Night Mode toggle is enabled.

Well, glad that Google isn’t restricting the Google Play Store Dark Mode to just Android 10 as we’d had thought initially. That being said, if you have a non-Android 10 device with Night Mode support, then do check whether you’re able to trigger the Dark Mode on Google Play Store or not. Don’t forget to update the Play Store to latest version obviously.

changelog drop-down menu bug in google play store 16.9.10

Unfortunately, the latest Google Play Store comes with a tiny bug which breaks the in-line update changelog. The bug which is seen on the app update section drop-down arrow is nothing of much serious. Nonetheless, we expect Google to roll-out a fixed Google Play Store soon to address the issue.
