Google is always on time when it comes to security updates. On the first Monday of each month, the company upgrades its devices to the latest security maintenance. As always, the May 2022 security patch does not bring any visible or significant changes. However, it does address a bunch of bugs and security issues present in the current version. Talking about the compatible phones, it covers Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro.
Concerning changes, the update for the Pixel smartphones resolves a handful of high and moderate severity vulnerabilities and two severe security flaws. Most importantly, it identifies the code CVE-2022-0847 known as Dirty Pipe. FYI, it is an exposure of the Linux kernel which can provide an attacker complete control of your device. All these modifications are a part of the SP2A.220505.002 build number.
The OTA update is already rolling out for the smartphones, and will automatically hit your device in the upcoming days.
